• Great study guide.
• I like the book and the flash cards. It would be nice if the flash cards were perforated so they could be torn out.
• The GACE is part of the teaching certification requirement in the state of Georgia and is used to “measure teacher candidates’ aptitude in mathematics, reading, language skills, and writing.”  I’ve outlined what is on the test below. In the introductory material in this book, you’ll learn just what the GACE exam is all about, what’s on the exam, how long the test takes, the administration process, and other pertinent information about the exam.  Of course if you’re even checking out this particular set of rapid review flash cards, you probably have checked out most of the requirements already.  I’m always up for garnering as much information I can about any exam and am into using all kinds of study / prep guides. The overall test is the GACE Program Admission Assessment (700), whereas the numbers 200, 201, and 201 refer to the Academic Skills Subtests.
  
  Simply reading the introductory material in any Cirrus guide is a mini-journey of must have information.  For example, one will find out that they can “essay responses are scored on a holistic scale of 1 - 6 by two separate graders who are unaware of each other’s evaluations of your work.” These scores are ultimately combined. The Georgia GACE is a combination multiple-choice / essay exam. Scoring can be checked out on the website, but is also explained in the introduction of this book. A score of at least 250 is needed on each subtest. The scores are “reported as either ‘PASS’ or ‘NOT PASS.’”
  
  I’ve always made my own flash cards and actually made them for courses I took in graduate school.  These flash cards can be cut out and laminated, something I’d probably recommend.  On the other hand, some people can work well with a book format. The variety of cards is decent and anyone studying for a general knowledge exam in mathematics, reading, and writing skills could make use of these cards.  Several states have different tests and these could be utilized in a variety of them.  For example, one card asks  “What is the purpose of a declarative sentence, and with what punctuation mark does it usually end?.” The answer is A declaratives sentence (like this one) makes a statement; it usually ends with a period.”

  (The section is followed by the concept, the approximate number of questions [or essay], and the time allotted for answering during the exam).
  
  Reading Key ideas, supporting details, craft, structure, language skills, integration of knowledge and ideas 56 multiple-choice questions, 85 minutes.
  
  Mathematics Number and quantity, algebra, geometry, statistics and probability 56 multiple-choice questions, 85 minutes.
  
  Writing Text types, purposes and production (includes 2 essays), language and research skills for writing 40 multiple-choice questions and 2 constructed-response (essay) questions, 100 minutes.
  
  TOTAL  152 questions (and 1 essay), 4 hours and 30 minutes (2 hours each for individual tests, 5 hours for the combined test).
  
  The three different sections in this book provide ample opportunity to practice one’s test-taking skills and knowledge.  The first section requires that one bone up on their reading and critical thinking skills by reading a passage and answering a question.  The second one ask questions about English language skills / application (writing), and the last one reviews some mathematics.  These flash cards do give me a pretty good idea of what the Georgia GACE is all about and what I would need to study and review.  There is no DVD included in this book, but is available by request after posting a review.

• This book allows studying for the GACE Program Assistant Assessment in an easy format. Flash cards have always been an essential way to teach students the needed materials for any exam. These flash cards covered all required knowledge for the test. Fast, reliable, and compact. I can carry this book around anywhere. It's size makes it that much easier to take with me. The level of content inside was great. I felt more confident in taking this exam. Nice large print. Perfect layout. Overall, I am happy with this form of a study guide preparation.
