Pantaleon Pantoja, a recently promoted army captain, is entrusted with a top secret mission to establish a prostitution service for the Armed Forces of Peru. • An ironical criticism of the militar mentality, specially interesting when one thinks that it was written in a time where military dictatorships abounded in South America. The narrative is so interesting and well executed that even knowing the plot one have pleasure re-reading the book, as in my case.
• Very interesting story ...and the question whether it is true or not keeps banging in my head... dialogues intertwined with dialogues in some parts grasps our attention!!!!
• A masterpiece by the great architect Vargas Llosa. Very funny and classy with a profound knowledge of humankind in general and his beloved peruvians in particular. An astounding piece of art!
• I had read some other books from Vargas llosa but this was very boring
• La historia es buena, pero me cansó la manera de contarla.
